How To Write Effective SEO Content

Effective SEO content is all about grabbing the attention of a targeted audience and providing them with relevant information that they will find valuable while at the same time getting noticed by the major search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing and being placed on their top page and positions. The goal is to create SEO content that is better than what is currently available on search engines so that your page ranks high for your targeted keyword.

Here are some helpful SEO tips on how to write effective SEO content that will make both your target audience and the search engines put the spotlight on your web page:

Get the Proper Training

SEO tips and techniques abound all over the internet. But getting an SEO course and certificate will equip you with all the information and skills that will ensure that what you are practicing will deliver great results for yourself and your clients. So make an investment in educating yourself through the proper training from the experts.

Know Your Online Audience

The best way to satisfy your target readers is to know what they want and deliver exactly that. It is very important for every SEO writer to know your audience, especially when you are planning on what to create on your website. Your content must appeal to them, to the point that they would want to share it on social media.

Before you write anything, take the time to know what your target readers want and need. One way to do this is by tracking content that has received the most positive feedback and shares on social media. This will give you an idea of what they actually like and produce more similar content, so your website entices your readers to come back for more.

Produce Only High Quality Content

One thing’s certain – Google rewards websites that offer high quality content that is original and relevant to users. Google places high value in user experience, which makes it very crucial for SEO efforts to focus on delivering what online users find relevant, informative, engaging, and compelling.

This is why content and SEO must always go hand in hand. Even the Panda Google algorithm update made it very clear that only by providing excellent user experience can websites look forward to getting ranked on Google.

Proper Keyword Placement

The addition of target keywords and phrases should be done with the reader in mind. With that said, your SEO content should flow smoothly and naturally even when keywords are added. Avoid keyword stuffing, as this is absolutely unacceptable. Content that is overstuffed with keywords will only be viewed by search engines as spam, and there is no chance that this would get ranked by Google or the other search engines.

Word Count

While longer content with at least 500 words have greater chances of being ranked by search engines, never force yourself to produce a specific word count. Again, your content should not only satisfy search engines, but more importantly, your target audience. So it needs to flow well and contain information that makes a lot of sense to your readers.

Most of them are free; however, they will cost you time.

Website

Your website is your online business card. If you don’t have an online presence, you will not grow or succeed. The infographic shows other statistics that reiterate the importance of having an online presence, and building a website is the first step in doing so.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Make sure your website is optimized for search engines in order to market your business on the internet. Sprinkle keywords that your clients use when searching for your products or services throughout your website copy creating keyword rich content. Search engines like fresh content also. So, update regularly. In addition, quality backlinks play a role in your site ranking well in search engine results, which, in turn, will drive traffic to your site.

Blogging

Creating and maintaining a blog will also drive free traffic to your site, giving you and your business exposure. You can use this platform for content marketing, which we’ll discuss next, sharing valuable content to your audience. This will draw them to you, which is a form of inbound marketing. We’ll also talk about this strategy a little later.

Content Marketing

The Content Marketing Institute describes content marketing as “Content marketing is a marketing technique of creating and distributing relevant and valuable content to attract, acquire, and engage a clearly defined and understood target audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.” Blogging, creating website content, broadcasting email campaigns, and social media marketing are all examples of content marketing and are ways of marketing your business on the internet.

Social Media Marketing

Being active on various social networks is another strategy you can use to market your business online. Posting relevant and valuable content will attract your target audience to you and your business (content marketing). You will also be seen as an expert in your industry to your potential clients.

Inbound Marketing

Inbound marketing is a marketing strategy that uses relevant and valuable content to draw potential clients. The traditional method of advertising involved delivering advertising messages to the masses through radio, TV, magazines, etc. hoping to be found like a needle in the haystack; to be heard through all the other ads. Inbound marketing is a technique where your clients find you generally through internet searches verses you broadcasting to your market as a method of obtaining clients.

These are just a few techniques you can use to market your business on the internet giving you and your company the exposure you need to grow and succeed.

How to Humanize Your Brand on Social Media

social media marketingHumanizing your brand on social media means to show the personal side of your business. In order to do this, there has to be a shift in how you interact with buyers and prospects on your social media platforms. Here are some tips that will help you get started.

The Face behind the Brand

While you want buyers and prospects to recognize your logo and tagline, putting a face behind your brand makes it more personal. Connecting your social media accounts with your team or employees is a great way for buyers to see that there are real people working and affecting the impact your business has online. A creative way to do this would be to have your team make posts on their social media profiles and use key terms or hashtags that connect them to your business.

Think Relationships

Relationship building is essential in creating growth and long-term customers. You don’t always have to be corporate when interacting with buyers. It’s okay to be conversational and talk to them in a language and tone they can understand. Quickly responding to comments and questions is another great way to build good, solid relationships. Buyers want to know that you are here to stay and that they can rely on you.

Share Photos and Videos

A great way to connect with buyers is through the use of video and images. Share some footage of you and your team. Some examples of things you may want to share include:

  • A normal day in the office
  • A company event or party
  • An office tour
  • Employee of the month
  • Behind the scenes (how your company handles certain processes)
  • Interactions with you and your customers
  • Video or audio client testimonials

Become a Great Listener

The easiest way to fix something is by listening. This also holds true for your business brand. Listen to what buyers are asking for from you or your industry and find a way to deliver. Some creative ways to do this would be through video, blogging and podcasting.

Engagement should always be a priority in your business. These tips are a great foundation for getting started in humanizing your brand. As social media continues to grow, being personable with your audience will definitely give you an edge over the competition. Remember people buy from people they like and trust.

What are you currently doing to humanize your brand? We would love to hear what’s been working for your business.

5 Steps in Getting Started in Social Media Marketing

social media marketingSocial media has become a giant in the world of internet marketing. Studies have shown that internet users are on Facebook 4x as much as Google. This statistic alone should make you want to run and set up a profile. Here are 5 simple steps to get you started with social media marketing.

1. Selecting Your Social Media Channels

There are so many social media channels out there that it can be confusing. When selecting your social media channels, it’s important not to get caught up in the hype of what’s the new big thing. You select your social media channels based on your target audience. Where are the majority of your ideal customers hanging out the most? For example, a company that sells custom quilts may want to consider using Pinterest. Pinterest is a great platform for businesses that sell products primarily to women.

Be careful in the number of profiles that you set up. Trying to maintain 4 or 5 social media channels can be really tough, because as the old saying goes, “If you’re not going to do it right, then don’t do it at all.” So the key is to only pick as many as you can comfortably manage.

2. Post At The Right Time

Using social media for business requires a little strategizing. It’s imperative that you are posting at times when your ideal clients are online. Try to find out more about your clients and what they like to do. If they go to bed early because they start their days early, you may not want to make too many posts at midnight. Your posts should be done when your target audience is tuned in.

3. Create Relevant Content

Creating relevant content goes back to knowing who your ideal clients are. Your post should be centered on things that your customers might find useful while still showcasing your expertise. It’s also a good idea to show the human side of your business, but be careful not to lose focus. If most of your clients are women, it’s probably not a good idea to make numerous posts about sports.

4. Developing a Routine

Make sure that you are posting frequently and consistently. Once you have figured out what time you need to post, stick with it. Some people like to use social media management tools like HootSuite. They allow you to load your posts in advance and schedule them to go out whenever you like. Along with consistent posting, you also need to focus on new followers and monitoring online conversations relevant to your industry or core audience.

5. Monitor Your Efforts

Nothing is worse than wasting time, especially if you are a business owner. The last thing you want to do is spend countless hours on social media and not have any idea what your ROI (return on investment) is. While social media is free, time is money. You need to track your efforts to see what is working and what may need an overhaul.

Follow these 5 simple steps to get started with your social media marketing today. Remember social media is a power tool when there is consistency, purpose and goals. Have questions or stories to share about your social media marketing experiences? We’d love to hear them.

Internet Business — Marketing Add-on Services

online marketingIf you select the correct add-on service to offer, you shouldn’t have to do as much marketing as you do for your actual online business. The reason is that you should be able to market your add-on services to the people who already visit your website.

Target Audience

So what services does your target market need? Do they need online content, graphic design, web design, administrative services? Perhaps they need coaching or consulting services? For the best results, it’s very important that you know your target audience so that you can target them with your add-on services.

You’re in luck, if your niche is marketing information products and affiliate products to other business owners, because it will be easy to market a service to that group. If your online business is marketing to another niche such as natural living or parenting topics, you might have more issues developing a service for your site visitors, but don’t be discouraged, you can offer coaching or consulting to that group.

What Services Can I Offer?

One of the easiest services to offer almost any website visitor is coaching or consulting. Even a parenting-focused website is a great place to offer coaching. Many parents just need someone to support them in their endeavors. Start by offering group coaching calls to talk about a specific aspect of your niche, then up-sell at the coaching call individual coaching that is more expensive. Before you know it, you’ll have added an income stream to your revenue site that can support it until you’re more successful.

Online Forums

Another way to market add-on services is to the people you meet at online “water coolers” to discuss your business. Forums and message boards that have other work-from-home or Internet business owners are full of people to whom you can market your services. Use your online business as an example of what you can do for them. Perhaps you’ve built an impressive website or have excellent content on your site; you can help others do the same through your services.

Speaking of online forums, another way to offer services is to go to community forums where work-at-home people hang out and wait until someone offers “overflow” work. This works especially good for writing content. The pay will be pretty low when you subcontract and take overflow. Ensure that you get payment upfront or only accept overflow from people whom you trust. Deliver quality work on time, and you’ll get asked to do it more often without having to wait for it.

Marketplace Services

Another way to market an add-on service is to try using a service like Fiverr.com. The pay is low to start, but if you do enough business, you will be allowed to offer up-sells to those who purchase from you. Also, what is really good about a service like Fiverr.com is that payment is handled by a third party service, so you do not have to worry about non-payment. On Fiverr.com and other services like this, you simply put up your offering and wait for people to place orders.

Internet Marketing Strategy – Six Useful Ways to Connect with your Market by Mobile

Last week we continued our series on internet marketing strategies focusing on interacting with your target audience using your website and mobile. Go here to check it out. This week we will look at six ways to effectively connect with your audience by their mobiles.

  1. Make sure your blog or website is optimized for mobile. If you designed your blog and/or website using WordPress software, you can choose a blog theme specifically designed for this or install a plugin called WPTouch, which will enable your site to display correctly on mobiles.
  2. Think about using QR Code as a way to connect with your audience via their mobiles. A QR Code is simply a special bar code when scanned with a phone camera will send people to whatever link you include when designing your QR Code. This is a great strategy to direct people to your site using their mobiles.
Think of a QR Code as a graphic that you can place in your local advertising, as well as on online. Visit Kaywa to design a QR Code for free.
  3. Know when your particular Mobile market peak usage time happens. Just like on Facebook, there are certain times of the day when your audience connect and check more frequently. According to Practical eCommerce, general peak periods are from 5 p.m. Thursday to Monday, 9 a.m., as well as early morning, late afternoon and late evening.
  4. Use coupons to encourage your subscribers to engage online as well as on their mobiles. Keep in mind that not all mobiles have apps yet that will allow your audience to pay using their mobiles; so, instead drive them to your website to pay or where ever you have your sales page set up.
Check out MixMobi for creating mobile coupons. They have free trials.
  5. Use Mobile Virtual Business Cards if you are a service provider on the go. Visit AvidMobile to learn how you can create Vcards.
  6. Try the photo “blitz” technique. If your audience is socially active, have them take pictures and post them to your Facebook Page based on a certain theme; for example, where are you right now or a photo of something pertaining to your niche interests. For example, if you sell pet products, have a “Best Pet Photo” contest.
Be sure to reply or comment on the photos that are submitted to your Page. This goes back to our discussion on using Interaction as an internet marketing strategy.

Nowadays, mobile use is one of the hottest trends around. They are so easy to use and they help people to feel connected.

Internet Marketing Strategy – Testing and Tracking

google analyticsA couple of weeks ago, we wrapped up our series on passive and recurring income. We are continuing to look at strategies for start-ups with our focus now being on various internet marketing strategies.

It doesn’t matter who your target audience is or how well your website is designed, you still have to place your products and/or services in front of your customers. This requires internet marketing strategies.

The first marketing strategy we’ll cover in our series on internet marketing strategies is Testing and Tracking.

Testing and Tracking

In order for your internet marketing strategies to work for you, it’s important to track your sales and ROI (Return on Investment). So, analyze your e-mail campaigns, social media marketing, sale pages, promotions, and organic website traffic results to get a bigger picture of how you are attracting your audience to your site or are you earning a return on your investment, etc.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a powerful tool to use for tracking. With this tool you can track:

  • Which social sources refer visitors
  • Which actual content drives conversions with social audiences
  • What your visitors are sharing (and where)
  • The impact of mobile use on your business

This tool also provides:

  • Real-time reporting
  • Graphs and charts, to help you quickly visualize statistics, plus more

A/B Split Testing

Google Analytics will also allow you to set up A/B Split Testing (multivariate testing). This allows people when clicking on your links to be taken to different sale pages or ads. Then you can see which one worked the best.

In order to get the full potential from your marketing strategies, it’s important to track the results and test your campaigns.

Are you tracking your results? If so, which analytical tools do you use? Join in the discussion by commenting below.

Come back next week as we continue our series on internet marketing strategies. As always thanks for reading! See you next week!!
